“Adapting Yoga to suit the needs of every unique individual is where the true greatness of Yoga lies”

TKV Desikachar

Based in North Kent, I hold weekly Yoga classes at Beechen Hall in Walderslade Woods and offer personal one-to-one sessions for individuals with unique needs. I also host regular Yoga workshops and retreats, thoughtfully designed to help you reconnect with what truly matters in life.

My students come from all over — Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London, and even as far as New Zealand!

My journey with Yoga began in my late teens after a back injury. In my early twenties, after moving house, a neighbour — an ex-Yoga teacher — encouraged me to attend a local class. I could barely touch my knees, let alone my toes, but with her encouragement, I found the healing power of Yoga.

Now, after 35 years of practice, I am deeply passionate about sharing what I’ve learned. Ten years into my Yoga journey, my teacher suggested I train to become an instructor. At first, I hesitated, believing only “bendy” people could teach. But she taught me that enthusiasm and love for the practice are what truly matter — and she was absolutely right.

I trained for four years with the British Wheel of Yoga, the governing body for Yoga in the UK. Their Diploma is an excellent and thorough qualification, and I always advise seeking teachers who have this level of qualification, for your own safety and wellbeing. The four year programme provides an in-depth study of the entire body – our complete anatomy and physiology, the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, the digestive system and internal organs. A large part of the course looks at how to undertake Yoga postures if there are medical conditions or pregnancy. The course also covers breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, chanting, Yogi philosophy and relaxation techniques.

I would advise to be cautious about undertaking yoga instruction from someone who has simply completed a short course in Yoga.

I’m committed to ongoing professional development and have specialised in working with individuals with back problems, ME, arthritis, and mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. I also teach Yoga for sports performance enhancement.

Yoga has given me so much — not just physical healing, but a deep sense of calm, control, and happiness. The more you practice, the more these benefits grow, allowing you to radiate positivity and good energy to those around you.

Yoga is an ideal practice for improving muscle tone, flexibility, and strength in a gentle, mindful way. It’s suitable for all ages and levels of ability — beginners are always welcome.

If you’re looking to invest in your long-term health and vitality, come and join my classes. For a small commitment of time and cost, you can become stronger, fitter, more youthful, and take home practical relaxation techniques for daily life.

Yoga Retreats and Workshops

My Yoga retreats have been popular for over 20 years. A weekend retreat offers a perfect chance to step away from the stresses of modern life and reconnect with yourself. I put great attention into every detail so that you can truly relax — all you need to do is show up and be cared for. My retreats create a nurturing environment where daily Yoga practice helps detoxify the body, energize the metabolism, and build both physical and mental resilience.

Private 1:1 Yoga Sessions

For a fully personalized experience, I offer private one-to-one Yoga sessions. These sessions are ideal for mastering specific postures (asanas) and addressing particular health needs. Many clients are referred to me by their GPs for issues like back pain, neck pain, joint problems, stress, and anxiety. In a private session, the focus is 100% on you — improving your physical health, mental well-being, and overall vitality.
